Consider publishing School of Dragons to HTML 5 | SUGGESTION
Please note that I am not experienced in game development, nor do I fully understand the difference between publishing to the web plugin, and publishing to HTML 5
But.... It is something to consider. I mean, School of Dragons is one of the only How To Train Your Dragon MMO out there, and while it is riddled with bugs, when it is bug-free, it is interesting. Some parts of the expansion packs are really fun, and I know School of Dragons does have a growing community, looking at all the clans and posts on this forum.
And, admins, if you are reading this, this will be an impressive feat for you guys! Not just a Dragon MMO, but a Dragon MMO that requires absolutely no downloads except a capable browser? That would be great!
Before you guys comment to me telling me that is impossible, that doesn't mean they can't try. Unity does have the power to publish to HTML5, they just need to bug-test the heck out of it, maybe some extensive QA testing, and we might have a good browser MMO.
Knowing a little bit about HTML 5, as I am taking a coding class for college, HTML 5 is more for website designing. But I do believe there are some aspects that could help a game such as SoD.
I have heard more people are starting to use Unreal Engine more than Unity, although both are still good for a wide range of games. However, Unreal would be a step up from Unity in a lot of areas. So going from Unity to Unreal may take some stress off the game and fix bugs all on its own. On the other hand, a game of this magnitude, how much time and effort would be to transfer everything over to Unreal from Unity? Maybe more time consuming and create different problems than just trying to update the game's code to fix the bugs.
