Unfortunately for the last two months or so, every time I play the downloadable version of SoD my computer freezes and need to do a hard shutdown by keeping the power button down.  It only occurs while playing SoD.  I have confirmed that I have the latest graphics drivers and did a stress test on my GPU (graphics card) just in case there was a problem.  Passed the various tests with flying colors.  Also deleted and re downloaded the game including data files.  No effect.  Just in case, I also ran a number of virus checkers, etc. Again nothing.

I have not been able to detect a pattern but it usually happens 5-10 minutes in the play.  My system is relatively new with an Intel core i7 processor, 16 GB of RAM and a graphics card with 4GB of onboard RAM. That should be sufficient to run the game.  I am continueing to explore this issue.

Just mentioning this in case there are others experiencing the same issue.  If you were experiencing the same issue and were able to fix it, please let me know what you did to fix it.

Thanks in advance,

A freeze doesn't have to be a crash per se. Does it end up completely unresponsive, including the mouse pointer and commands?

You could try checking your event log to see what causes the hangs.

Mouse does not respond and neither does CTRL-ALT-DEL.  Event log doesn't turn up anything consistent either.  I have observed that on occasion the hard disk usage goes up to 100%.  Am currently looking into that.  Will also try to run web version of SoD through Internet Explorer to see if I have the same issue.
