Changing locations, dragon shooting, material dragons

I have 3 important suggestions:

1. When changing locations instead of loading screen would be an animation. During the animation the location would normally load. For example when we go from the school to wilderness is animation of running throught the tunnel and on the end we see wilderness. Diffrent example:  when we go from the dragon's edge to hobblegrunt island we see animation of flying on our dragon above the ocean and on the horizon appears the island etc. I thing it's very good alternative of boring loading screen. 

2. When dragon shoots fire, we never know, where shot will hit. I thing that there should be an extra button on the screen which turns on a viewfinder like in fireball frienzy or eal roast. Then we can shot anywhere in the area.

3. Why all dragons in game are not material? We can literally go inside our dragon, we can't jump on it or shoot to other dragons. Also we can go throught other dragons without any interaction. When we go close the wall or...anything dragon can deep into it xD I thing the game will be more realistic and better when dragons (and vikings!) will be material. 

I'm sure many people will agree with me. Please, admins read it.

sadly some reasons why, but all things I would like to have

1- There used to be a Timberjack Taxi minigame of sorts when flying between areas, but many found it took too long and could be quite taxing on older computers or slow networks

2- While it would be fun and could be used in rp scenarios, free-aim fireballs might be difficult to put into a multiplayer game. Having the guided shots is much easier, and the game doesn't have to calculate a fireballs path and account for obstacles.

3- Creating a physical entity or moving obstacle is much easier said than done. Adding in the issue of multiplayer functions, it would just be a pain, especially if you're suffering from lag or being hounded by a dozen people.

Snootle

 

Appearance: A green dragon with a canine-shaped snout, wolf-like ears and two pairs of short, upward curling brown horns below the ear, lining the jaw. A row of tough scales line the top of his snout, which ends in a grey dog-like nose. On his neck and across the top of his chest is a thick fur mane that puffs up whenever he gets angry, frustrated, startled or defensive. His eyes are orange with a round pupil.

Red-orange scales line his belly and go halfway down the tail which is plain, part from the trailing of a row of spines at the top. Along his back is a row of bone-white spikes. His wings are fairly plain, with a large bony hook on the hand.

Personality

  • All-bark-no-bite type attitude
  • Acts like he’s ready and able to fight anyone at any moment but will fall over if you look at him angrily
  • Makes up a lot of stories that make him look tough
  • Kind of emotionally unstable
  • Older brother to Beetroot- sometimes is mean, but will go through h.ell and back for him
  • Easily distracted
  • Loves copper and anything copper coloured
  • High-class taste in music and fashion

 

Beetroot

 

Appearance: A dull lavender ampitheare with red and yellow feathered wings, a deep blue tail tip and blank, white round eyes. A large, curled horn adorns his nose, and the mouth is jagged. His body is completely covered in feathers that are incredibly fluffy and soft- he’s like a duckling with no legs. The feathers do not flare out until the nape of his neck, and increase in density on the tail.

Personality

  • Looks and acts super cute and innocent
  • Is actually prepared to kill a man/dragon if given a reason to
  • Thankfully does not have the physical capacity to do so
  • Holds a grudge until death itself dies
  • Optimistic and playful
  • Makes many different kinds of noises, few of them explainable by science
  • Will eat anything, even if it is not meant to be eaten
  • Dislikes numbers- has been known to attempt to destroy anything with maths on it

Raider the pygmy Night Fury from Ecliptic

After all these years, all of his labour, and for what!? Some dirt-faced, two-clawed Triple Stryke hatchling to have a censored at his hoard when his back was turned. Scorpio had been a thorn in Raider’s side for weeks now, but this had gone too far- his vibrant blue and gold carapace would be a fine addition to his collection. Well, maybe he didn’t need to go that far for a youngster.

 

 

Emperor the baby Skyworm from Chameishida

The tiny splitjawed dragon rolled down the small incline. Behind him was a smoking wreck of an ancient building now truely destroyed beyond recognition, stone bricks still glowly slightly from an intense heat. He gave a gummed smile to the scene of destruction, clearly oblivious to the meaning of it. His home had been wiped off the island and he couldn't be more content with things.

You have right, these ideas

You have right, these ideas are difficult to introduce and will be terrible lags xD but just thing about how much better the game would be (of course if you have good internet). :-)

About the 1. I mean something total different like the mini game. There would be an animation downloaded with game. We can't interfere with it (it will be better and don't need speed internet, I hope you know what I mean and it's possible)

Shooting things is a pain

Honestly the calculated shots are difficult though, because you have to get really close to that thing for it to lock on. And I find a lot of the dragons meant to be the most exacting with their shots, like the flame whipper and singetail, shoot absolutely wild from where you are aiming. It'd be nice to not have to get nose to the boats or targets to shoot, even if the shot guider is locked the rest of the time.

   Something that could help the point 1 problem, is that to be optional. So if you have a slow computer/internet, or don't want to wait too long, you can keep that option deactivated, and if you want (and can) have that option activated, then you just do it.

Yeah there used to be a 'taxi'. It was super annoying and I'm honestly glad they got rid of it. There was no way to go afk or just let the game load- no, you had to go through hoops and stuff and it took way too long because you had to actively go through the loader & there was no fun factor to it. I don't think it actually served as a loader, either.

However I like the idea of a loading animation including the player and their active dragon! As long as it doesn't hold the player back. 

 

When it comes to firing, it's easy to make shots hit an intended target with some practice. Each dragon species has some direction to their fireballs. Some are more random than others, though. I don't think being able to target something or someone would be a good addition to the game since it wouldn't add anything.

 

Player collision is something you do not want in this game, or pretty much any MMO for that matter. Not only will it make the game heavier to run on many devices, it'll also really interrupt gameplay. You'd get stuck, people would lock you in, you'd get stuck again, physics would be pretty messy etc. I always found player collision to be evry off-putting in MMOs.

Yes, but...

I admit, material dragons will be problematic, but viewfinder would be good change . For most players dragons shoot totaly random. A long time ago it was possible to shoot other players and now we can't even blast where we want. The possibility of a proper shooting will make game more realistic and will bring lot of fun to players.

I have never heard complaining about shooting people, but I heard sadness and complaining about removing it. I don't know what was wrong with it, but I propose something diffrent. Schooting wherever we want.

The amount of complaints rivals the amount of triple stryke threads, really! People became inexplicably angry whenever people shot others and iirc some people even made callout threads about people shooting others. It finally stopped after they removed it. People being able to shoot each other never bothered me personally, and don't see why it should have. I wouldn't mind if they brought it back. It was hilarious.

 

I think the idea that you can target anything would be cool, but not really doable as everything must be made a target in that case- I think. I suppose it would be pretty messy! I personally just memorise the shot trajectories of some dragons so I can hit the things I want to hit, which is kinda fun on its own.

A long time ago, there was a scene between loading. Well, during the intro. You are late for the school and you get to fly on toothless, there is one scene where you can see yourself and toothless flying through the mountain and into the school where other dragons are flying around. It was awesome and I am really sad that they got rid of it.

Lynx is rather bold and loud She is like Luna Lovegood in the sense that she is rather... odd. Loud, shameless and weird. She is more animal like than human. Lynx enjoys being flashy, showing off her skills. Once she sets her mind to something, she is natrually good at it. The problem is that she loses focus easy and doesn't like setting herself to standards. She craves adventure and can grow bored easily. She is particularly fast on her feet, but has low stamina levels. She is strong and tall for her age. Lynx is stubborn and laid-back most of the time. She does not like to follow orders. Some of her skills include: being double jointed, the ability of being able to climb almost any surface, very good at mimicking animal sounds and is EXTREMELY good at sneaking around. However, there is a side to Lynx that she does not show very often. She is very lazy and selfish at times, mainly because she lacks compassion twords humankind, caring more about dragons and animals more so than humans. This tendency causes her to be merciless in the face of battle.

Wolf is my in-game character. Her full name is 'Wolf and Star'. She takes on my own personality, which is quite similar to that of Lynx. During quests Wolf loves to muck around and try to break the system by utilizing glitches- just for laughs, but she always produces reliable results. Lyra is very concealed and secretive. She rarely shows emotion and looks down on those who do. She is insanely obervative and could possibly rub off as edgy. Lyra can be rudely scarcastic, and may accidently hurt you. Don't expect remorse.  Though in fights, she doesn't appear to have a sense of honor and isn't afraid to fight dirty. She WILL kill. Lyra is willing to do anything to ensure her well being, and the well being of her mother. Which could be a weakness. she values her self preservation. She doesn't talk much either. She usually has her hood masking her pale delicate face and long hair

Terrible Terrors stole my subject!

I will answer suggestion number 3 since the other two have been already answered right.

 

By putting in mind what Varku also said, what you're asking for is collision boxes to be added to dragons and players. Collission boxes count as extra objects, and if you for example have a map with only 2 trees using collissions and then an impact of 10 players join in it can affect your performance. Doesn't matter if you run the game on a toaster or a computer, it's impossible.

In the worst case, it can cost a lot of money for one box.

Ok

Ok, you have right, material dragons and vikings weren't very food idea, but as for your comment, I was reminded of another suggestion: in locations is very small amount of trees (of course material trees). In dragon's edge was added forest and island looks much better. Some of islands are really empty and trees would make them better. ;-)
