Hey guys! I'm a musical theatre kid (kinda, kid doesn't really work) and have been trying to watch more musicals. Do you guys have any suggestions? If you do tell me why you liked it! Or if you think it's family friendly, or PG13. (also, do I have any fellow musical friends?) Just wanted to find some more musicals to watch. :)

A few of the more popular ones I have watched or been in:

Phantom

Le Mis (will be finishing it soon)

Newsies (both verisons)

Joseph and the amazing tecnocolored dreamcoat (I was in that one)

Chitty chitty bang bang (again, I was in that one)

Pirates of Penzance (I don't know if it's popular or not though)

Sound of Music

Annie

Dear Evan Hansen (only sorta though)

Marry Poppins

Plus a few more lesser known ones. Which ones have you guys watched?

I don't know if it is a musical in itself but it has many songs (so I suppose yes). But it's inspired by a movie and I don't know if it works for you.
It's HAIRSPRAY, now, I was listening to one of his songs. I don't know, but I really liked that one. I suggest it.
Although I don't know what this is in this forum, but well.

You don't want these guys searching you and hunting you. Remember, I have dragons and I will not hesitate to use them.

I've heard of hairspray and it's on my list of musicals to watch, thanks for the suggestion! I'll have to make sure to watch it soon!

"Although I don't know what this is in this forum, but well."  I think you're asking why I posted this forum topic on SOD? Good question! (I put it in things not related to SOD in case you're wondering) I just wanted to know if there were any other musical fans on forum. I know there have been MANY topics which don't connect to SOD very much at all, already on  here.  Why is this the one that bothers you? Anyway I meant no harm in posting about musicals, I'm just also lonely and wont be able to do a production (with my theatre group) of My Son Pinoccio (I got Sue! the part I wanted!) until this fall. Have you done any theatre (musical or not) before? Well, hope you have a lovely day!

I did not want bother you with that comment because it is true but the truth sometimes feels strange that they publish things not related to the page itself.
Yes, I have done theater for 2 years.

It is odd how they have a whole place for things not SOD. I see what you're getting at! Sorry if I sounded annoyed, I only wanted to know why it felt odd to you.

Cool! I've been doing it for (I think) almost 5 years. Did you like it very much? Was it musical or traditional theatre? I've done both and they both have their advantages (for lack of better word). I enjoy musical theatre a little more though as I do so love dancing and singing. Did you know that the differance between theatRE and theatER is that Theater is the place and Theatre is the act of well, acting? Although most people will just go with theater as it is more commonly used. (sorry if that sounded rude in anyway I simply wanted to share a fun fact)

I think it was a traditional, not a musical one but we did an event with only musical acts. But overall we was just acting.

I did two productions which were traditional. One was Beowulf (Have you read or heard of it? it's kinda done in a poem way(I foregot the real name for it)) and the other was Jungle book. They were both really fun! Have you had parts with lines? or do you enjoy kinda fading into the backround? I usally like as many lines as possible. But fading into the backround is fun if you have friends in the cast.

You said it was an event, what kind? (I don't mean to pry, so feel free to completly ignore this) was it a funraiser? or something a school/college was doing? or was it community theatre?

It was a simple play acting like singing stars. Nothing impressive, and in my other acts at least a song near the end. I like both sides, sometimes being like a protagonist and others a simple extra.
