Oh, my yak ribs!  Am I actually going to post super early on the day that I said I am going to post?

That's right!

I have a chapter all written.  And because I have written one already, I might be able to write another chapter today!  I do have to work with a group at school for a group presentation today, but I don't think the prep will take too long and the presentation is not until tonight.  So, you guys will at least get one chapter today, if not two.

After tonight... I am done with my semester!!!

Hope you all enjoy the chapter!

The Crimson Storm

Chapter 17

Everything Comes Full Circle

Slowly, I stir awake.  Trying to move my hands to my head, I am restricted from doing so.  Blinking my eyes to wake up, I take in my surroundings.  I see that my arms are fastened into stocks above my head and my ankles in stocks as well.  As I look around, I see my friends and my family similarly bound.

This place is a dimly lit room with half the walls being solid rock and the other half being wood planks.  To my right, over my shoulder, I see there is a rather large opening in the wall, like the wall is still yet to be finished.  Briefly looking around, I see to my right a semi-wooden wall with a barred door.  Near the door, there are various buckets, barrels, and crates; all empty.  Again, I am the last one to wake up.

Before I could say anything to the group, Koll walks into the room before the barred door, has a guard unlock the door, and then walks into the room.

“Well, well, well,” Koll spreads his arms out and then puts them on his sides.  “If it isn’t the infamous Mollerson crew, with all the Mollerson.  Now I will say, I was promised to have Jarl walk right into my grasp, but this… The Mollerson… The original Mollerson to be a pain in my side?” Koll says as if he still cannot believe what he is seeing.  “This was a bargain I was not expecting but will gladly take.”

Koll starts walking forward again, looking at all of us, and then walks to the wall to my left about ten feet from me to where my parents are at.

Going right for my father, Koll stops, crosses his arms and address my father while standing only a foot from him, “It has been a while, Sigvald.”

My father comments, visually aggravated to see Koll, “Not soon enough.”

         Koll chuckles, “I am sure.”

Father adds, “If you’d excuse me for not punching you in the face when you came over.  There seems to be something stopping me.”

Koll mocks, “Ah, you haven’t lost your observation skills in your old age.”

Koll acts as if he wants to say more, but moves on to talk to my mother, “I do believe we have not been formally introduced.  My name is-.”

Mother interrupts, “…Soon going to be forgotten.”

Koll just shakes his head, “I can see why you married her, Siggie.  She is a feisty one.  And…,” Koll lifts his right hand up to grab mother’s chin, mom turns her face to her right; father, meanwhile, tenses up yet does not say a word nor act out in any emotion.  “Aw, did not mean to scare you… Svana.”  Mother slightly lifts her head to look at Koll and shows a bit of worry, knowing her name.  “Yes, that is right.  I know your name.  I know all of your names… Maybe even more than you may not know.”

Koll hesitates again, but longer while standing nearby mother, “Too bad you couldn’t kill your own son.  How’d he manage not to kill you while not getting killed himself?  I still wish I could have seen that fight.”

He moves on, going past Dagmar and Dawn, but then stops in front of Annabeth.  I start breathing faster.

“Miss Annabeth,” Koll states.  “How are you doing today?”

“Eh,” Annabeth tilts her head once.  “Could be better, obviously.”

“Obviously,” Koll repeats and then hesitates yet again.

I abruptly call out, “You lay a hand on her and I’ll-!”

“Oh, lay a hand on her?” Koll talks over me.  “You mean… Like this?” Koll proceeds to take his left hand up to Annabeth’s face, which she tries to turn away to her left.  Koll ever so gently draws his hand down Annabeth’s cheek.

“I said don’t lay a hand on her!” I exclaim.

Koll looks up, “You don’t want me to lay a hand on her like this?  Am I doing this righ- OW!”

Koll interjects as he quickly takes back his left hand, flinging it around in pain… Annabeth bit his finger.

         Annabeth laughs, “Hah… Distracted much?”

Looking like he was forgetting what he was going to do much, Koll states, “You two need to learn some manners like Sigvald and Svana.”

“Oh, like Trader Johann?” I randomly question.

Even though in noticeable pain, Koll cracked a smile and said, “That fool?  While he does have manners, that viking could not tell his right from his left even if it was written on his sleeves.”

“Wait,” I counter.  “I am mistaken… -Traitor- Johann.”

Turing to directly face me, Koll is surprised by my statement.

From out of the blue, Trader Johann’s voice declared, “I think the performance has finally reached its conclusion.”

The voice was coming from behind Dawn on the other side, opposite me, next to the wooden wall.  There must be another part of the room, outside the barred door, that also has room behind the wall.

Johann, with his hands behind his back, walks into the part of the room where we are.

“I must say, Jarl,” Johann turns to discourse with me.  “You caught on a lot quicker than I previously thought you would.  But, alas, I was going to reveal soon anyway.”

         Confused, Elsa asks, “Reveal what?”

“My dear,” Johann says in a way like he is proud of what he is about to say.  “Did you hear the word that Jarl so eloquently used?  Traitor Johann?”  Mostly everyone’s looks were that of shock, the rest is just surprise.  “Yes, that is right, though I would say that I am on the winning side.”

Father catches on, “More like the more profitable side, dealing strictly with so called ‘business’.”

“That is also true,” Johann states.  “But may I ask, Jarl, what made you suspect me before I was ready?”

         I answer, “This room.”

Puzzled at my response, he echoes, “This room?”

“Yeah,” I reply.  “If you look down at the floor, the average Dragon Hunter may not see it… Then that would make you less than the average Dragon Hunter, Johann.”  The traitor folds his arms and looks like he wishes he had not asked the question; I continue, “Look at the floor… Then look where the rest of us are standing.”

         “So?” Koll said.

Johann answers for me, “Jarl has astutely concluded that this room has once been filled with supplies of a sort.  Where Jarl and his friends are standing, there is no dirt.  Yet, if you look in the middle of the room, away from the walls, then there is a trace amount of tracked in dirt from outside.”
I nod, “These crates you or someone moved, was probably here for quite a long time.  If I had to guess, then this was your stash that you said you had here?”

“You are right again,” Johann acknowledges.

“Not only is this your stash,” I say.  “But you supplied the ship that Annabeth and I with a friend had captured on.  Look down again and in the corner of the room, to the right of my father.  White dirt?  No, flour.  These sockets that are currently holding all of my family and friends back from knocking your block of right now are the same sockets that were in the ship.”

Johann starts to open his mouth, but I go on, “I’m not done, there’s more.  Not only did you supply that ship with your goods, but those same goods got stored here.  In addition to the sockets being the same ones Annabeth and I saw before, there is some seed corn pieces scattered about and there are thick scratches on the rock floor, denoting heavy equipment was brought in here and out of here; also known as the weapons in the same ship.  You supplied your own trap for us.”

Johann acting surprised I am done, he asks, “Is there anything else?”

“Why yes,” I respond.  “Thank you for asking.”  Johann could only drop his arms and put his hands on his sides with his arms out as he impatiently waits while I talk.  “Knowing how well you have come through in the past with clues and leads to things regarding either Heather or stuff with Hiccup, your trip to the Northern Markets with Heather… You seemed caught off guard that Annabeth and I were there.  You started to question, but when Heather explained, you had to agree or else you would have raised suspicion then.  But then when you went with us to that island and then stayed with the dragons, I bet you were the one that told that one viking about Fredrick and Anora.  That once they took care of us, both our dragons were already to be captured.”
“Then after hearing how the whole debacle with you, Heather, and Snotlout went down, something just did not feel right.”  I continued.  “Why were you all of a sudden not coming through with your clues or leads?  Where ever you went, it seems like you were conveniently there ready to help or aid, or at least you made it look that way.  While playing the innocent fool trader routine for so long, you started to get a little sloppy as your plans started to change.  I further conclude that there are many more times that you
hadso called ‘helped’ us but we were playing right into your plans.  You just made it look like everything else was our fault or result.”

Looking at Johann with disgust, I pause; father then finishes my thought, “Then to top that all off, you lead us right into a perfect place to have an ambush.  Once we scouted the island, the thought crossed my mind about that thought of an ambush, but I was with holding judgement before I asked you about it.  Guess we never got the chance, did we?”

Johann answers, “No you did not.  It was just too good to pass up to say that your friend Michia was in trouble and that I saw him.  Knowing that you have been trying to find him, I used that as an excuse to come and draw you in.”

Ali asks, “So, Michia is not here?”

Johann shakes his head, knowing Ali cannot see him.

Ali’s stance slumps a bit as she responds, “I’ll take that as a yes.  Because we were trying to find Michia, you played us knowing that we would go at the first sign of a new clue.  You just made it that much more enticing.”

“It was too easy,” Traitor Johann replies.  “Maybe too easy, as you are pointing out Sigvald.”

Koll butts in, “Are we going to get down to business?  Or are we going to admire everyone’s ability to state the obvious of what has already happened?”

Johann sighs, “You still need to learn that in this job, one still needs to appreciate the work that your enemy does.  This will do wonders for planning the future.  Knowing how your enemy ticks is half the battle.”

Koll smiles, “Oh yeah, like how you took me in as your apprentice to your trading and traitoring businesses.”

Shocked at this development, we all listened with disgusted eagerness, Koll sustains the conversation, “That’s right, Sigvald.  After all this time, it was not Truvor that was using me.  It was me using Truvor.  Or rather, your former Trader Johann took me in, taught me his ways, and I found Truvor and made him think he was training me.  Johann knew how much Sigvald Mollerson meant to Berk at the time that he had me intentionally lead both you, Sigvald,” Koll points to father.  “And Truvor to think I was slowly finding out how to find the Asmolfr Treasure and finding a way to Berk… When I knew it the whole time.”

My father is clinching his fists as he states, “You were the threat all along.  Truvor was a threat too, but I had no idea that you were this cunning, Koll.”

“You still don’t know a lot of things about me,” Koll smiles.

Johann asks Koll, “You’re liking this, aren’t you?”

“Oh,” grins Koll.  “This could not be more fun.”

“Sorry to break it up,” Johann claps his hands and holds on.  “We must be getting back to our business.”

Father calls back, “And what might that business be?”

“Ah,” Koll said as the barred door opens.  He goes around the corner where Johann stepped out from the shadows, Koll then drags something with him and then tosses something kind of big into the room.  “Let her tell you!”

Koll laughs as he and Johann leave.

“Samantha!” Annabeth declares as I too recognize the viking.

RIP the group work, I just finished 3 term projects finally had a chance to catch up on these before my final exam.

Though I beg the question, why isn't the Mystery group using goggles or filters when they know the opponent has gas? Other than that one thing phenomenal writing!

On the Subject of Hackers

please read this link, it helps to identify the different types of hackers. I have hacked computers, and servers in the past (despite not being the best at code) but I never do it for personal gain. Unfortunately the hackers most people refer to on the internet are crackers so they bring a bad light on the hacking community in general. I only learned to hack code because I needed to in order to hack my microwave and other software in my house.

Don't be a Cracker you ruin it for everyone!

All About My Viking and Dragon:

Viking Name:Annabeth Everdean

Viking Age: 19

Viking Tribe: (Berkian, Outcast, Beserker, Dragon Hunter) Outcast/Berkian

Viking Personality: (at least three sentences)Annabeth is the daughter of Alvin the Treacherous and is just like him, maybe worse. She can get the job done no matter how hard the task is. incredibly spooky and stealthy she can sneak up on you when you least expect it. She has trust issues so don't expect her to trust you when you first meet her. Anabeth really only trust her Razorwhip Anora since she saved her from a berserker attack.

Backstory on how Viking Name found/trained Dragon Name: Anna and Anora found each other on Dragon Island or really Anora found Annabeth.Anora found Annabeth On Dragon Island with her family she studied Annabeth's family really closely and took a shine to her. When Ana was one she started to slowly reveal herself like coming in at night, when her mom saw the dragon she screamed causing her to accidently scratch her cheek. Alvin then came in seeing that his wife was about to k.ill the dragon he stopped her and told her to look what Anna was doing which was gently petting Anora's horn. On her second birthday Alvin said that they could keep her.  A year afterward they were attacked by Berserkers and Alvin told Anora to do what ever it took to take care of her. (This was before Riders or Berk)

Jarl and the crew thinks Samantha is on their side, but Jarl will question it seeing how Trader Johann has become Traitor Johann.  A couple people he thought he could count on turns out that they were using him to get whatever they wanted.  Jarl and Annabeth just met Samantha, the rest of the crew, this would be their first meeting with her.  Questions will be raised, but the precise answer to your question will be in the next chapter.
